Pre and Postnatal Anatomy and Physiology
1.5-2 hours

Understand the science behind the guidelines.  Have you ever wondered why pregnant women get leg cramps?  Do you know why a pregnant woman’s resting heart rate increases by 10-15BPM?  This module will empower you with knowledge so you can apply the current pre and postnatal guidelines with confidence.

Pre and Postnatal Fitness Guidelines
1.5-2 hours

The SOGC/ACOG continue to release new Pre and Postnatal Fitness Guidelines.  This module will ensure that you are using the most recent FITT Principles for Cardiovascular Exercise, Muscular Endurance and Flexibility with your participants and clients

Incorporating Pregnant Participants into Mainstream Fitness Classes
1-1.5 hours

Ever had a pregnant woman in your fitness class?  Health care practitioners now advocate continuing or starting exercise during pregnancy – as awareness spreads, pregnant women are appearing in all sorts of exercise classes. Pregnant participants pose special considerations for instructors, whether it’s safety or setting expectations. Learn practical tips and techniques for supporting pregnant women in mainstream fitness classes, while keeping mom and baby safe.

Core Exercises for Pregnancy, Labour and Beyond.
1.5-2 hours

Should pregnant women do abdominal exercises? Yes!  Learn the benefits, guidelines and safety considerations for doing core exercises during pregnancy as well as sample routines you can use in your classes or with your personal training clients.   This module includes up-to-date information on diastasis recti (abdominal separation)

Tummies 4 Mommies
1-1.5 hours

Ask any new moms which part of her body she would like to improve and she will say her tummy.  Common concerns include abdominal muscle separation, core weakness, excess skin, stretch marks and belly fat.  We will use a 3D approach to help women regain core strength, improve abdominal appearance and increase self-confidence.

Prenatal Yoga
4 hours

The benefits of yoga during pregnancy are many: strength, mobility, stress relief, balance, mental focus, comfort, circulation, inner peace and labour preparation.  Teaching prenatal yoga is professionally and emotionally rewarding. This prenatal yoga workshop will focus on the basics of class design, precautions, beneficial poses, helpful props, bandhas, breath, vocalization, visualization and other relaxation techniques.

Fit 4 Two Pre and Postnatal Fitness Specialist (PPFS) Course/Certification
16 hours including exam

Our PPFS Course prepares certified fitness instructors (land and aquatic) and personal trainers to work with this specialized population.  Topics include:
prenatal anatomy & physiology; current prenatal & postnatal fitness guidelines; how to choose safe and effective strength training exercises for pre and postnatal women; how to choose safe and effective core exercises for pre and postnatal women; how to design a successful pre/post natal fitness classes and how to design a successful pre/postnatal personal training programs.
